Drug Usage Among Teens
The first semester project for Ms. Sutton's Contemporary Themes class included exposing the dangers of drugs and how teens are using/abusing them more frequently in the 21st century. My group, Shark Tank, utilized various sources from the internet and documentaries to create a presentation, which enlightened our audience about the effects and consequences of drugs. This assignment is important to me because it was an eye opening experience. Those around us always told us not to do drugs because they are "bad". Although they may be "bad", if we are ever caught in a situation we usually are oblivious as to how to handle ourselves. It is not in my interest to take any drugs. However, if one day either my friends or I are caught in a situation, I will be able to handle it responsibly.
Process:
In order to create the our presentation we had to research a topic. This step was probably the most difficult because there were so many great topics to choose from. However, in the end we decided that this topic most affected our age group in this century. We then proceeded to create a Prezi, which we presented to the class.

Anti-Bullying Project
The Anti-Bullying Project was inspired by Ms. Sutton to combat bullying everywhere. In no way possible is bullying ever acceptable, that is why the Anti-Bullying Project was created. Bullying is most prominent in the lower grades as a result to immaturity; therefore, our purpose was to inform the underclassmen about the consequences of bullying. This project was life changing for me. It made me realize that the information we presented could potentially save an individual's life, a precious human life.
Process: We watched copious amounts of documentaries, which followed the lives of adolescents who were victims of bullying. We followed their lives, felt their pain, and shed their tears. Such an emotional reaction creates a drive within a person to want to create change. Moreover, we studied approaches that would have the most impact on our audience such as the golden circle. We started our presentation with "We believe " statements, then moved on to the "What". Finally, we presented our ending product to the underclassmen.
